Religious Education (R.E)

As a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School, the Diocesan controls acts of Collective Worship at St Matthew’s. We follow the Birmingham Education Committee Agreed Syllabus and the QCA.

We define Religious Education as a personal enquiry into patterns of belief and behaviour. We see enquiry taking place through the exploration of a wide variety of religious beliefs and practices and through the investigation of shared human experiences.

We encourage all children to take part in Religious Education and Collective Worship.

The two acts of worship attended were both very good. Pupils played a full part…. On both occasions all the pupils were fully engaged… Both acts of worship were experiences the pupils looked forward too, obviously enjoyed…
